Forest Acres in Columbia, SC

Forest Acres is a city and a neighborhood. The neighborhood is known for its many beautiful pine trees, ponds, large lots and urban forest feel. In Forest acres it is common for a home to sit on an acre lot with large front and back yards. It is also common to see bunnies hopping in your yard, many varieties of birds and geese flying overhead traveling to and from the several ponds in Forest Acres.

Located less than 5 miles to Columbia, SC's city center Forest Acres offers a unique almost "country" feel with all the city perks. Forest Acres has some of the best shopping in Columbia! Check out Be Beep on Forest Drive where you can call ahead and say "I need a birthday present for a 9 year old girl under $30" and they will chose the latest fun trend toy, wrap it beautifully and have it ready when you arrive. This kind of service is not unusual in Forest Acres. Chico's, Stein Mart, Ann Taylor Loft, and Belk are a few of the clothing stores minutes from the homes of Forest Acres.

In Forest Acres one can also enjoy great meals. There are locally owned Tombo Grille, Rosso Trattoria Italia, Pasta Fresca, Miyo's, The Village Idiot and Original House of Pancakes (yum) to name a few. Forest Acres is also home to Bonefish Grill, Five Guys Burgers, Starbucks and Dunkin Donuts. By now I think you get the picture; Forest Acres offers in town living with all the perks of city life but with sprawling ranch homes on sizable lots with a more rural feel. The schools of Forest Acres are some of the best public schools in Columbia, SC. Top rated elementary schools are Satchelford Elementary and Brockman Montessori. Both these schools are conveniently located in Forest Acres and it is not uncommon to see children walking or riding bikes to school. That is the community feel offered in Forest Acres.

The city of Forest Acres was incorporated in 1935. Many of the homes are one story ranch style and most have been remodeled over the years. There are also a few new homes sprinkled throughout where builders have purchased land, if built well they sell quickly. Forest Acres is also home to a good many mid-century modern homes. These properties do not turn over frequently and when they are on the market (for sale) they sell quick.
