Irmo, SC Information
Irmo, SC has approximately 12,000 residents. Irmo has some of the highest rated schools around Columbia, SC. It is located just north of Columbia off 1-26 towards Spartanburg in Lexington County. It is 10 miles to downtown Columbia, SC and only a few miles to Lake Murray. Irmo is home to the annual Okra Strut, a parade in September that the locals have been enjoying for many years. Irmo school district Lexington 5 is ranked 5th of 86 school districts in SC.
Shopping in Irmo is a pleasure with Columbiana Centre. This is a shopping mall anchored with Dillards, Sears, Belk and JC Penny . It has a food court with a large carousel for children and 75+ retail stores. In Irmo one can enjoy multiple movie theaters, restaurants, shopping and parks.
Saluda Shoals Park is a riverfront park that offers great outdoors fun and education. The park is located on the Saluda River and offers kayak and canoe rentals. The park also offers many other recreational and cultural outlets. Saluda Shoals has a water park for hot South Carolina summers. The park is a great place for any resident of Irmo.
Seven Oaks Park offers a fitness center, athletic programs and cultural arts. These programs are open to all Irmo residents. There are programs for youth, adult and seniors. Seven Oaks Park has nine athletic fields, six tennis courts, trails, and a 30,000 sq ft building with a gym and classrooms for art classes.

There are also new subdivisions such as Ascot, which has horse trails, a community pool and tree lined sidewalk streets. Homes in Ascot range from 300,000 to 1,000,000 dollars. In Irmo one can also find a home on acreage with a true country feel or a Lake Murray waterfront homes.

Irmo SC has many different neighborhoods. Some of my favorite neighborhoods are Ascot, Avalon, Belfair, Brittany, Chestnut Hill Plantation, Coldstream, Gardendale, Murraywood, Nursery Hill, Quail Valley, Tattlers Wharf, Waterfall and Whitehall.
